CNS/RD Supervision
What We Offer:
We support nutrition professionals by offering a comprehensive, directly supervised nutrition internship experience. Our program educates emerging professionals in the standard nutrition care process, electronic health record (EHR) keeping, and the development of advanced clinical counseling skills. Throughout the minimum 6-month internship, nutrition interns will simultaneously observe clinical workflows and provide patient care while successfully accruing their required supervised practice hours towards professional licensure.
-
During each 6-month internship, the intern group will meet at least once weekly for patient care discussion. The clinical supervisor will observe, participate in patient care visits and will be available during all visits for support. All documentation will be reviewed and supportive feedback provided.
-
Nutrition interns will follow standardized guidelines for the nutrition care process including education in ADIME charting, nutrition assessment, recommendation and goal-setting and develop confidence in providing personalized, evidence-base care.
-
As a small group of nutrition professionals we create strong connections between our patients, providers and the greater community.
-
To be considered for our supervised clinical practice rotation, applicants must meet the following baseline criteria:
Academic Degree: Hold a Master of Science in Nutrition or closely-related degree.
Credentialing Track: Be actively in the process of acquiring either the Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS) credential or Registered Dietitian (RD) licensure.
Prior Fieldwork: Have completed a minimum of one University term (or the equivalent) of supervised clinical education.
Program Commitment: Maintain availability for a minimum six-month commitment to ensure continuity of patient care
